Meet Our Candidates

The Candidates for Borough Council for 2019 are Lucia Galdi and William J. (Bill ) Smith. 

The Morris Plains Republican Team is committed to keeping our community the envy of Morris County!
* Support fiscally conservative budgets to keep Morris Plains affordable for families and Seniors
* Oppose Phil Murphy's tax and spend agenda on the local level
* Support increased transparency of town budgets and development projects
* Stand with Sheriff Gannon in opposing the Murphy agenda to weaken local law enforcement
* Support responsible economic development in our community
* Oppose any effort to consolidate our local school district

Lucia Galdi has been a resident of the Borough since she was a young child and is a former Human Resources Manager for Honeywell. For the last 8 years she has been a member of the Morris Plains Board of Education spending 3 years as Vice President. She has been chair of the Personnel Committee and participated in contract negotiations. Lucia is also a member of the Morris School District Board of Education for the past 8 years. She and her husband, Frank Swiontowski have raised two sons in Morris Plains who are attending college. Contact Lucia at:

William J. (Bill) Smith  and his wife, Maryellen, moved to Morris Plains over five years ago and very quickly became active participants in the Community of Caring. Bill has an expansive professional record of public service specializing in public policy and communications and has served as a top staff member to a Member of Congress and County Prosecutor. He was appointed by Mayor Frank Druetzler as a member of the Borough's Planning Board. Bill and Maryellen welcomed their first child, Will, in December. Contact Bill at:
